52 Ancestors #2 Favorite Photo

In this weathered photograph, my uncles Eugene Melvin (1930-1979) and Robert Eldon (1935-2000) Peasley stand with their first cousin Gerald Lee Symens (1936-~2019).

My mother loves to tell the story of Uncle Gene's creative solution to his brother's childhood foot surgeries - a loyal pet goat that became his personal transportation. The goat would patiently carry young Bobby wherever he needed to go, turning what could have been a limiting situation into an adventure.

Finding this photograph brought my mother's story to life, transforming a cherished family tale into a visible piece of our history. These captured moments make our family stories real, connecting us across generations.

  1. Very poignant photo and good to know it supports the family's stories that have been passed down. Never saw a pet goat before but this is quite innovative.
